We are used to solid copper neutral conductors, can we receive any detailed info on the tinned concentric neutrals? Do you make solid copper neutrals as well?
Over 99% of the Medium Voltage UD cables that we produce and stock have solid copper neutrals. Some customers ask for the reduced tinned copper neutrals version and state it prevents any posibility of oxidation (which is unavoidable in bare copper neutrals) and while welding the neutrals (for example when applying accessories or even jointing cables) using tinned copper neutrals is easier and faster. |

The US Navy needs the reels to be made from heat treated wood and stamped with an HT stamp, can we meet their reel specs.?
Our reels fully comply with ISPM 15 (International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures). As per these standards, the reels are either HT (Heat Treated) and/or MB (Methyl Bromide) fumigated.

Are your power cables copper conductors Oxygen Free?
The demand for Oxygen Free cables is mainly seen in the Telecom industry.
As far as we know, there has never been a demand for Oxygen Free cables in the power cable industry. Our Medium Voltage Power Cables have not Oxygen Free conductors.

Our consulting engineer wants to know more about the FR (Fire Rating) on your 35kV UL1072 cable
There is no Fire Resistance Rating known of the referenced cable, as defined
in ASTM E-119. The cable has fire retardant properties but is not fire
resistant. Its behaviour in a standardized flame propagation test, meets the requirements of the UL1072 Standard for MV cables for Cable Tray Use as required by the NEC. That means that the cable passes the UL 1685 Standard
"Vertical-Tray Fire-Propagation and Smoke-Release Test for Electrical and
Optical-Fiber Cables" (smoke measurements are not applicable). The cable is
UL Listed.

Does your EPR compound contain any TR-XLPE?
No, the EPR compound (ERI 3728-5) does not contain any tree retardant polyethylene (TR-XLPE). A small amount of low density PE is added to ensure pellet stability during transportation. |

We`ve received a 2 year old 35kV cable - what`s the "shelve life" on the Medium Voltage cables?
Our Medium Voltage cables are designed and manufactured to withstand at least 40 years of normal operation once it`s energized. All our inventory is stored in secure and climatized State of the Art 3 year old Regional Distribution Center, which insures the cable quality until shipped to the customer.

On the MV105 cables what is percentage of copper tape overlap ?
As of 010104, Superior Cables Ltd., will produce the MV105 cables with a 25% overlap. All older MV105 inventory has an overlap of 18-20% (exceeding the required 12.5%). The change was triggered by customers request.

Yes, in fact - we call 2003 "our institutional year". Over 30% of our medium voltage cable sales went to either - Navy, Air Force or Army bases.
51% of Superior Cables Ltd. shares are owned by a New Jersey based company, most of the raw materials used in the medium voltage cables are imported from the US and to top this according to the 1985 Trade Agreement between the US and Israel, Israel is considered as a most favoured nation - and products from Israel are treated as if produced in the USA. |
